Medical Personnel in Amarillo, Texas, Call for Mask Enforcement
December 03, 2020

A recent
article released by ABC 7 Amarillo News on November 18th, shows the response by health care workers petitioning for mandatory enforcement of mask-wearing as COVID-19 cases spike in Amarillo and public health resources grow thin.
In light of an alarming increase of deaths and hospitalizations in Baptist St. Anthony's Health System (BSA) and Northwest Texas Hospitals, more than 1,000 physicians, nurses, and medical staff signed a petition requesting improved safety measures to counter the spread of the virus.
The piece was put together by Dr. Daniel Hendrick and supported by different health authorities like BSA Chief Medical Officer Dr. Michael Lamanteer. In the petition, Hendrick urges Mayor Nelson and the city-county to implement mask enforcements as a way to reduce transmission rates. He also voiced his concern over the misinformation that continues to affect the general public even months after the pandemic settled in the United States.
