No More Restrictions Despite Rising COVID CasesWith coronavirus cases increasing day by day, many wonder if more restrictions will be coming shortly. In December, North Texans saw additional restrictions be put in place when it was reported that 15% of hospitalizations were COVID-related. A month later, that number now stands at 25%.

But when it comes to additional restrictions, an NBC DFW article written by Meredith Yeomans titled "Are More Restrictions Coming to North Texas?" states that no additional restrictions can be put in place since the area has reached the maximum amount allowable under Governor Abbott's executive orders.

As it stands, indoor capacity is limited to 50% for businesses, including restaurants, gyms, and stores. Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins mentions that the public health experts point to bars as super-spreaders, and over 3,000 bars have been reopened in the past couple of months and have been reclassified as restaurants by the state.

Despite the pandemic growing dire by the day and regardless of how high hospitalization rates can go, no additional restrictions can take effect under Governor Abbott's executive orders, as previously mentioned. Judge Jenkins expresses a concern as he hopes people focus on what the doctors are saying rather than what is legally allowed.
